We use superb quality products from DSC, a world leader in electronic security, and offer top notch monitoring service from one of Canada’s foremost monitoring stations, Acme Protective Systems. APS has been monitoring residential and commercial buildings for over 40 years.
Some alarms take two hours or less to install, generally use wireless contacts and are held in place by velcro tape and are easily defeated.
Good alarms are not cheap and cheap alarms are no good.
Best alarm systems are of the wired type and if you have to go wireless, use a reputable manufacturer, such as DSC, who has been in business for over 50 years.
Most false alarms occur from the following: poor wiring methods, cheap motion detectors, no soldering on contact switches, no connectors for splices – only wire skins used, copper will oxidize over time and will create problems if not done properly.
Make sure the alarm belongs to you at the end of the monitoring contract and the alarm is a mainstream product that is well known. There are many proprietary alarm systems that can only be serviced by the original installing company and if something goes wrong, you will have to pay their exorbitant rates.
Remember it takes a certain level of skill to install an alarm system into an existing home so that it looks nice and also have it operate trouble-free for years to come.

Monitoring
Genesis Alarms provides monitoring through its monitoring partner, APS Monitoring. The monitoring is a locally owned and operated company in Vancouver. Our monitoring station will make every effort to confirm an actual alarm before dispatching the authorities. APS Monitoring is listed for ULC Burglary and carries a five Diamond Certification from the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) which is the highest certification given.
What is the best alarm
In our opinion, the best alarm is one in which the siren goes off before the burglar steps foot into your house or business. Having contact switches installed on all the doors/windows that are accessible from the ground will likely have the siren go off before they set foot into your house. This will increase your level of security. Motion detectors are there as a backup to the contact switches.
The most under-rated component in an alarm system is the siren. Most companies install a small indoor siren inside the house that sounds when the alarm is tripped because it is quick, fast and easy. The problem is no one from the outside can hear it. The whole objective is to scare the intruder away from your property and a small siren is not going to do that.
Genesis Alarms will install a large 30 watt horn style siren in the attic whenever possible and have it face towards the soffit so acoustically it is able to transmit the noise outside. ||The intruder in most cases will leave your house and move on. Also having a strobe light outside to visually identify
your house is also a great deterrent to being burglarized and it will let your neighbors know it is your house.
